HOUSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sky High for Kids, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Pediatric Cancer research, is thrilled to announce a transformative pledge donation of $2 million from Brett and Shelley Pennington, a compassionate family committed to making a difference in the lives of children battling cancer.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Pennington family for their exceptional commitment and steadfast support of our mission,” said Brittany Hebert Franklin, CEO & Founder of Sky High for Kids. “Their continued support will drive vital immunotherapy research initiatives at our Sky High for Kids Immunotherapy Center, bringing hope and healing to children and families alike.”

The Penningtons’ impactful gift to Sky High for Kids totals $2 million, with an initial payment of $1 million in the first year and the remaining $1 million to be fulfilled over the next decade. This pledge will support critical efforts aimed at advancing pediatric cancer treatment, particularly in the field of immunotherapy research facilitated within the Sky High for Kids Immunotherapy Center at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center.

In consideration of the gift, Sky High for Kids and Texas Children’s Hospital proudly paid tribute to the Pennington family by unveiling dedicated signage at the Cancer Immunotherapy Center, located on the Sky High for Kids Patient Floor. The “D. Brett and Shelley Pennington” reception lobby stands as a lasting tribute to their commitment to pediatric cancer research.

Brett Pennington, former owner of Ensign Natural Resources LLC, orchestrated the sale of the company’s assets to Marathon Oil in 2022, marking a significant transition in his professional journey. As a key figure in the energy sector, Pennington’s decision to divest Ensign’s assets underscores his commitment to philanthropy and his desire to contribute to initiatives aimed at improving the lives of others.

“Sky High for Kids holds a special place in our hearts,” said Brett Pennington. “It has been incredible to witness the organization’s growth from the beginning, and being a part of it is a true privilege for our family. We wholeheartedly believe in the cause, cherish the children and trust that this pledge will be a force for good through Sky High.”
