A Thank You Letter from Landon’s Mother

Dear Laura and Sky High For Kids,

On behalf of our family, I want to extend a huge THANK YOU, to you and the Sky High For Kids organization for the very special, and incredibly generous Warrior Pack that you put together for our family. I was writing a thank you last week, and 2 more Amazon boxes arrived even after I had written my first message of appreciation!

We are absolutely overwhelmed by the wonderful gifts, helpful distractions, and family food gift cards you sent to us. Landon continues on his warrior journey with a lot of lingering health challenges from chemo that have prevented him from being able to do some of the things he loves, so this special surprise has been an amazing boost for him. He LOVES the giant shark the most!! He is bringing it room to room and it takes up half his bed at night 🙂 He has opened all the board games and we have been playing them since last weekend and during the spring break week this week. He’s also had a great time doing the wood art craft and has the pieces and materials all spread out on his desk trying different designs. His other favorite things are the 2 Lego sets! The 3 in 1 set was opened day 1 (he built the flamingo option!) and then when the set with the 2 cars arrived several days later he was so pumped!! Lego’s have been his favorite thing to focus on during his cancer treatment and during weeks in the hospital.

Thank you for the beautiful Cross bracelet and book of scriptures. Our faith in Jesus has been the rock holding us together during the last year and a half. Having these special reminders of God’s goodness really means so much, and will bring Landon a lot of encouragement as he continues his cancer journey.

The Adidas duffle bag is perfect! Landon had a duffle that developed holes due frequent use so this bag is SO helpful. He already used it this past weekend. The baseball speaker and Astros blanket are also very useful and are perfect for his baseball themed room!

Thank you for the pajamas for Landon and his sister, Aubryn. The shark bottoms fit Landon perfectly and he loves anything with Sharks! Aubryn appreciates the pajamas and “A” make-up bags that you included for her as well. It means a lot when she is recognized as a cancer warrior sibling because it has been a hard journey for her as well.

And finally, thank you for the DoorDash gift cards and the 5-restaurant gift card (Landon wants to use it for Olive Garden!). DoorDash has been our go-to during hospital stays and when we can’t go out to regular restaurants. We really appreciate these food options to help our budget stretch and make meals a little easier.

Since Landon’s diagnosis, Sky High for Kids has blessed us with Sunday meals at Texas Children’s Hospital, the Christmas Carnival, and most recently the Warrior Pack and tickets to the World Baseball Classic. We are incredibly thankful to be an official part of the Sky High for Kids organization now, and we will walk alongside other cancer families and support and promote your wonderful organization whenever we get the chance!
