In the words of his mother
On May 8, 2024, our life changed forever. A simple stomach ache turned into a diagnosis of a liver tumor with metastasis in the lungs. A diagnosis that broke our hearts into a thousand pieces and forced us to see life in a different way.
This test taught us that we are not in control of anything, and that in the midst of the storm it is possible to have peace and tranquility if we have God in our hearts. It is wonderful to see the strength, resilience and courage that Ismael has, he has taught us more in these 3 years of life than we will teach him in his entire life.
He taught us to smile every day no matter what circumstances we are in, to live by faith and not by sight, to live in the present, today, which is the only thing we have, is the greatest gift from God, to leave anxiety aside, to let go of control of our lives to God and to know how to wait in his time, with the conviction and certainty of knowing that everything will be fine, and that everything has a purpose, a purpose, which is undoubtedly to enjoy this wonderful life together, giving each other all our love, living each second to the fullest and being thankful for every breath, for every smile, for every hug we give each other.
Today after 9 cycles of chemotherapy and 3 major surgeries, and an immense desire to live we can say Thank you GOD because thanks to you we were born again. Infinite thanks Sky High for Kids, you have been an invaluable support on this journey in a new country for us, you have made us feel at home. 
Of course, Ismael was born on August 17, 2021. We came to Texas Children’s because I had contacted a Mexican woman who had her son undergoing treatment there and she told me that it was the best hospital for children where they have all the cutting-edge treatments and we were looking for immunotherapy for Ismael since he was resistant to chemotherapy and then they contacted me with Ana, through my mother-in-law, and coincidentally she worked at Texas Children’s and she was an angel for us on this path, she helped us get an appointment with the specialist Dr. for what Ismael had, and she welcomed us into her home. She also contacted Brittany to tell them about us and coincidentally the Dr. who saw Ismael is the director of the liver tumor program and has just inaugurated the Sky High for Kids immunotherapy center donated by this foundation. It’s incredible how everything in the universe is connected. Nothing is a coincidence.
