Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: Sky High for Kids’ Annual Young Professionals Golf Invitational Raises $247,882 for Pediatric Cancer Research and Support
Sky High for Kids’ annual Young Professionals Golf Invitational, held on October 7 at the Golf Club of Houston, was a resounding success, raising an incredible $247,882.05 for pediatric cancer research and to support families impacted by this devastating illness. The event’s success was driven by the unwavering support and participation of attendees, including the significant contributions of sponsors, volunteers, and committee members.
The event was made possible thanks to the dedication of those involved, especially the Title Sponsor, Kayne Anderson, and Event Chairs, Jose Linardi and Brad Hortenstine. Their hard work and commitment to the cause helped bring this inspiring event to life.
With two exciting golf flights, participants enjoyed a day filled with camaraderie, friendly competition, and a shared passion for supporting children battling cancer. Key moments throughout the day included a fun cooking session with Spitzer Industries and other partners, as well as Dylan’s Lemonade Stand, run by Childhood Cancer survivor Dylan and her family, which was a touching addition to the event. One special moment also featured pediatric cancer survivor Matt Johnston, who connected with Dylan and shared his inspiring story. Matt will be joining the Young Professionals Board in 2025, adding even more depth to the group’s efforts.
The event’s highlight was a lively Taylor Swift dance party with Ellie and her mother, which brought joy to all in attendance. It was a heartwarming moment that truly embodied the spirit of the event.
Throughout the day, participants also had the opportunity to engage in exciting raffle draws featuring incredible baskets and take part in the introduction of a mini live auction with mystery coolers—an experience that kept everyone on their toes.
The afternoon concluded with an award ceremony where a few lucky teams walked away with a one-of-a-kind, hand-carved duck, crafted and hand-painted by cancer warriors, adding a personal and meaningful touch to the event.
Sky High for Kids’ Young Professionals group, an extension of the organization, continues to be an invaluable platform for networking, giving back, and providing support for cancer warriors undergoing treatment. The group’s quarterly events help ensure that those impacted by pediatric cancer feel the support and care of the community.
