Sky High for Kids returns to Lafayette, Louisiana for 17th Annual fundraiser, the Hometown Classic Golf Tournament, raising over $174,443 to end Childhood Cancer!

Sky High for Kids returned to Lafayette, Louisiana, for its 17th Annual fundraising event, bringing together the community who started it all to continue the fight against Childhood Cancer. This year’s Lafayette Hometown Classic Golf Tournament was held on April 25th at Oakbourne Country Club. The tournament saw over 150 golfers unite for a day of camaraderie and giving back. Together, they raised an impressive $174,443, surpassing the 2023 golf tournament’s fundraising total and marking a significant milestone in Sky High’s mission!

The tournament was made possible through the incredible generosity of local businesses, sponsors, and volunteers. Among the key contributors were Mike and Jovette Mosing, whose dedication to Sky High for Kids has been immeasurable. The day’s success was also driven by the generous contributions of Advanced Integrated Services and the Steve and Lisa Orlando Family Fund, whose sponsorship played a crucial role in bringing the event to life. Their continued partnership is a testament to the power of community support and the impact that can be made when people come together for a common cause.

The event also featured inspiring stories from families impacted by Childhood Cancer. The Daigle family, with Cancer Warrior, Madelyn, shared their emotional journey, highlighting the importance of continued support for children and families battling this disease. Madelyn even helped pass out some special awards to our golfers!

The Romero family, led by Cancer Warrior Survivor Noah, spoke about the power of community and the importance of Sky High’s mission. Noah, who is now in his early 20s, shared how vital the support from Sky High and its partners has been throughout his recovery. Additionally, the Romero family’s annual Toy Drive in Lafayette, which collected over 800 toys and gift cards for Sky High, continues to inspire others to give back and contribute to the cause.

As the Lafayette Hometown Classic Golf Tournament came to a close, it was clear that the community’s generosity had made a lasting impact. With the total raised at this year’s event amounting to $174,443, Sky High for Kids is more determined than ever to continue funding vital pediatric cancer research and providing much-needed resources to families during their toughest times. The event served as a reminder of the power of community and how, together, we can make a difference in the lives of children battling Childhood Cancer.

Sky High for Kids is deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to this year’s success—whether through sponsorship, volunteering, or attending. Their support plays a vital role in helping the organization continue its mission. As we look to the future, Sky High for Kids remains committed to growing its efforts and ensuring that no child has to face Childhood Cancer alone.

We named this fundraising event the Hometown Classic to honor the place where the very first Sky High fundraiser took place, and we are incredibly grateful for the community’s continued dedication and support for our families year after year.
