Cancer Warrior Spotlight: Harper

Harper’s Story: A Brave Heart Facing Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

As shared by her parents, Kory and Stephanie

Harper, our vibrant nine-year-old, is the loving eldest of four siblings, embracing her role as a compassionate and nurturing big sister. With a soft-spoken demeanor and a kind heart, she finds joy in both quiet indoor moments and thrilling outdoor adventures, as long as she’s staying active. Her passions include animals of all kinds, swimming, fishing, and cruising the neighborhood with her family on the golf cart. From a young age, Harper has poured her energy into dance, tumbling, and gymnastics, and recently discovered a love for softball, diving into it with unwavering commitment and enthusiasm. Her dream is to become a veterinarian, fueled by her deep love for animals.

On June 30, 2025, our journey took an unexpected turn. Sudden symptoms led to a pediatrician visit and a swift transfer to Texas Children’s Hospital emergency room, where Harper was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Philadelphia-like subtype). With incredible strength, she spent nine days in the hospital, beginning her fight with courageous determination. Harper now embarks on a 2.5-year journey, starting with weekly chemotherapy for at least the first eight months, with hope lighting the path ahead. Her radiant positivity and unyielding spirit uplift everyone around her. Anchored by our faith in the Lord and trust in the exceptional doctors and medical staff at Texas Children’s, we are carried forward by an incredible support network that surrounds us with love and encouragement.
