Childhood Cancer Warrior Spotlight: Graham
In the words of his mother
Graham was diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma, which is a B-Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, in November 2018. He ended up in the ER in Lafayette, LA on his 4th birthday with severe stomach pains and projectile vomiting. After blood work, an x-ray and a CT scan, a mass was located in his intestines. They brought him into emergency surgery to remove it and sent it off to pathology.
We got the dreaded news 5 days later. CANCER!
5 days after that he required another abdominal surgery to remove scar tissue that had developed causing an obstruction in his intestines. As soon as he was healed, we headed to Memphis for treatment. His protocol consisted of 5 rounds of chemo, so Memphis was our new home for the next 3 1/2 months.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was Heaven on Earth to us from the moment we arrived there. After enduring 5 rounds of chemo, 5 bone marrow aspirates and 13 spinal taps, our boy was CANCER FREE! We made it home just in time for our little bald superhero to attend pre-k roundup the following weeks ahead.
I am forever grateful for the care we received at St. Jude.
