WARRIOR SPOTLIGHT: Cooper
In the words of Cooper’s mother, Allison:

On January 7th, we took Cooper to Texas Children’s ER for severe constipation issues. What we thought would be a routine clean-out, changed our lives forever.
While preparing to treat him, doctors discovered that Cooper was in heart failure. Within minutes, plans were made to transfer him to Texas Children’s in the Medical Center. Our family was scared and uncertain about the future, but we knew he was in the best hands with some of the best children’s heart doctors in the world.
Cooper was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy. Treatment began almost immediately when he arrived. I stayed with him nearly every day during the three weeks he was in the hospital, while his dad, sister and brother visited daily to love on him and encourage him as he continued treatment and slowly got better.
Within a week, he was like a new kid—full of energy, becoming hyper-active again, using more words, and his motor skills began developing so quickly. Seeing that progress gave us so much hope even though he has a long way to go. While a heart transplant is not off the table just yet, we continue to pray he keeps improving so we don’t have to go down that road.
Cooper is now home, but he takes several heart medications each day and the doctors are still working to determine the cause of his heart condition.
Without the love, prayers and support of our family and friends, we truly would not have been able to keep our heads above water. We are forever grateful for the support shown from Sky High for not just Cooper, but his siblings as well. Please continue to keep Cooper and our family in your prayers as we navigate the road ahead. We are incredibly grateful for the continued support and love.
We are rooting for you Cooper! – Everyone at Sky High for Kids
