CANCER WARRIOR SPOTLIGHT: carlos
ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL NOVEMBER 2025 PATIENT OF THE MONTH

Carlos is a happy little boy who enjoys singing, dancing and playing with his dinosaurs. His sweet smile and bright eyes bring so much joy to his family.
Last year, when Carlos started limping, his family thought he was just trying to walk like his dad, who was recovering from knee surgery. But when he continued to limp for weeks, Carlos’ parents took him to the local pediatrician where an MRI revealed heartbreaking news: Two-year-old Carlos had brain cancer. His mom said it was “the hardest news to hear.”
After initial treatment at his local hospital, Carlos and his family were referred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for his continued treatment and care. And it didn’t take long for him to feel right at home at St. Jude. “At first, Carlos was nervous. Now, he is very calm and talks to the nurses, greeting them and hugging them,” said his mom. “The truth is that he appreciates them very much. And we were very impressed by the attention of the doctors and the nurses.”
