CHILDHOOD CANCER WARRIOR: Omar jr.

“Omar Jr.  is the oldest of our 3 sons. Before he was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, he used to do everything related to outdoor activities; riding bicycles, skateboarding, riding ATVs, fishing, amusement parks, playing basketball and soccer. We are a very united family that used to spend a lot of time together. He enjoys playing with his brothers, and he is always looking to plan activities that involve the entire family. He loves going to the beach and spending hours in the water.

Our lives were changed when he was diagnosed with cancer. This put our lives on hold. Our projects, plans and trips, everything that we work for collapsed with one word: CANCER.

Our son and every child fighting cancer are true warriors giving the best they have and that is the motivation that keeps us fighting with them.” – The words of Omar Jr.’s father

Carlos Omar Coronado, Jr., affectionately known as “Omarcito,” was born on August 27, 2008, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Carlos Coronado, Sr. and Griselda Rodriguez. From a young age, Omarcito took on the role of a big brother with pride, always looking out for his younger siblings, Anthony and Freddy. His love and guidance were felt deeply by his brothers, who admired and looked up to him in countless ways.

Omarcito had an adventurous spirit. Anything with wheels and speed fascinated him, whether it was riding four-wheelers, motorcycles, or skateboarding. His love for thrills extended to amusement parks, where rollercoasters became a source of joy. However, he also found solace in quieter moments, enjoying peaceful fishing trips and immersing himself in video games. A recent family trip to Hawaii gave him a glimpse of paradise-he fell in love with the beauty and tranquility of the islands, even imagining one day calling it home.

Throughout his illness, Omarcito demonstrated immense strength and courage. Despite the challenges he faced, he remained brave, never complaining, and continued to share his love and kindness with everyone around him. Omarcito was not only deeply loved but also loved deeply in return, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

On Thursday, September 12, 2024, Omarcito passed away at the age of 16, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and strength. He is survived by his devoted parents, Carlos Coronado, Sr. and Griselda Rodriguez Coronado; his cherished younger brothers, Anthony and Freddy; his paternal grandparents, Luis and Nena Coronado; his maternal grandmother, Elvira Francisco; and a large, loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Omarcito’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
