On May 31, Sky High for Kids returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for its third annual fundraising event, this year’s being hosted at the Tulsa Gun Club. The event featured a Sporting Clay Tournament and raised an impressive $197,003 to support the fight against Childhood Cancer. The day brought the community together for a fun and competitive experience while also raising crucial funds for the cause.

The Sporting Clay Tournament provided a spirited and competitive environment, with participants showing off their skills while raising vital funds for Sky High’s mission. Emceeing the event was Shae Rozzi from FOX23 News, who brought energy and enthusiasm to the day’s proceedings. A special touch came from the Pigott family, who generously cooked Korean tacos for the event, adding a personal and heartfelt element that made the day even more memorable.

Sky High for Kids also presented the Heart of Gold award to Jennifer Nichols in recognition of her dedication and unwavering support for the organization and its mission to combat Childhood Cancer. Jennifer went above and beyond in her efforts, securing multiple items for the event’s auction and spending hours setting up the event to ensure everything ran smoothly. She also provided drinks and ice for the day, demonstrating her commitment to every detail of the event. Her hard work and passion for the cause were evident in every aspect of the event, making her a truly deserving recipient of this prestigious award.

A deeply moving moment of the event came from the family of Omar Jr., the oldest of three brothers, who shared their story. Before his diagnosis of Ewing Sarcoma, Omar was a vibrant, active child, constantly engaging in outdoor activities like biking, skateboarding, fishing, and spending hours at the beach. When he was diagnosed with cancer, his family’s world was turned upside down, but they found strength in his resilience and determination. Omar’s father shared how every Cancer Warrior, like Omar, gives their all in the fight, and that spirit continues to fuel the mission. Omar passed away on September 12, 2024, but his courage and strength have left an indelible mark on the Sky High community. In his honor, Sky High for Kids will continue to remember his brave fight and the hope he instilled in all those who were fortunate enough to hear his story.

Sky High for Kids is incredibly grateful to Vital Energy, Carlos Connerly, Lilac Guzman, and all the sponsors, volunteers, and attendees who made this event such a success. The funds raised will continue to support critical programs, including pediatric cancer research, life-changing experiences for Cancer Warriors, and ongoing initiatives like the Sky High pledge to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. As we honor children like Omar and the families fighting alongside them, Sky High looks forward to another year of making a lasting impact in the battle against Childhood Cancer.
