In its ongoing dedication to combat Childhood Cancer and provide vital support to children facing life-threatening illnesses, Sky High for Kids celebrates the overwhelming success of its Annual San Antonio Concert & Clays event. The fundraiser, held on Friday, November 10, 2024, at the renowned National Shooting Complex, raised an incredible $647,856.81 for Childhood Cancer research and support.
Under the guidance of dedicated staff, board members, and volunteers, alongside the enthusiastic backing of the San Antonio community, this year’s event surpassed expectations and made a significant impact in the fight against Childhood Cancer.
The day kicked off with the exciting Sporting Clay Tournament, where participants of all skill levels took aim for a noble cause. Whether seasoned shooters or newcomers, including Parker McCollum and his band, everyone competed for prizes and relished the spirit of friendly competition.
Before the dinner and program, Cancer Warrior families were treated to a VIP meet-and-greet with Parker McCollum. This heartwarming experience allowed families to meet the artist, take photos with him, and share a special moment of celebration.
After the tournament and meet-and-greet, guests gathered in the big tent for a delicious BBQ dinner prepared by Cotton Logistics, followed by a lively program that featured inspiring stories and key moments that made the evening unforgettable. The program included a heartfelt video from Cayson, a Cancer Warrior, who shared his personal journey. His courage and strength, along with the presence of many other Cancer Warrior families, served as a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting those fighting Childhood Cancer.
During the program, Sky High for Kids surprised Parker McCollum with a custom guitar, featuring artwork designed by Cayson. This heartfelt thank-you gift was especially meaningful, as Cayson had previously gone on a hunting trip with Parker, making the gesture even more personal.
The live auction, hosted by Sky High’s CEO & Founder Brittany Franklin, was another key highlight. Brittany added her one-of-a-kind energy and enthusiasm to the experience, running around the venue, hopping on tables, and encouraging attendees to eagerly bid on auction items, making the auction an exciting and fun experience for everyone involved.
As the evening continued, the excitement culminated in a spectacular concert by Parker McCollum. Parker went above and beyond to make this event truly special, announcing during his performance that he would be donating his time and talent in support of the mission, deeply moved by the cause. Sky High cannot thank Parker McCollum enough for his continued support of the mission and the families we serve. The concert wrapped up the evening in a celebration of generosity, music, and camaraderie, leaving everyone with unforgettable memories.
A special moment during the evening came when Neal Baker from the Dewville Social Club presented Cayson with a champion belt buckle for the 20th anniversary of their Baker’s Boil fundraising event. This heartfelt gesture left everyone in awe of the lasting impact of their support. Another memorable moment was when Cancer Warrior Brady had the chance to shoot alongside Parker McCollum during the Sporting Clay Tournament, creating a meaningful and unforgettable connection.
Sky High for Kids extends its heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the San Antonio Concert & Clays event. From the Title Sponsors, including Cotton Foundation, La Brasada, Spitzer Industries, and FuelTrax, to the Event Chairs Ritchie Bartosh and Brooklyn Cottingham, every supporter played an essential role in ensuring the event’s success. Additionally, a Heart of Gold Award was presented to Michael Johnston for his exceptional dedication to the cause.
A special thank you goes to Cotton Logistics for their invaluable support, including providing rentals, tents, and the delicious BBQ dinner that made the event even more memorable. The event would not have been possible without the support of La Brasada, R&R Contracting, and many other generous sponsors.
Sky High for Kids is incredibly grateful to everyone involved in this inspiring event. Their unwavering support—alongside the courage of Cancer Warriors and their families—made this night one to remember, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of children and families affected by Childhood Cancer.
